Guided by the Holy Spirit, Velvera was created to bring warmth, beauty, and meaningful connection back to every gathering.
Some of my most cherished memories were made around my grandmother Beverly's dining table.
It was where family gathered, stories were shared, and homemade desserts brought everyone together. At the center of many of those moments was Beverly's famous Pineapple Upside-Down Cake—a dessert that became a tradition and a symbol of togetherness.
Years later, when I was 22 years old, I had a dream.
In that dream, I saw a cake stand sitting on her dining room table, keeping dessert warm long after it had been served. The image was so vivid that I woke up and immediately wrote the idea down.
What began as a dream soon became an obsession. I searched for a product that could keep desserts warm while maintaining the elegance of a traditional cake stand—but nothing like it existed.
So I set out to create it.
After years of development, countless prototypes, and more than a dozen patent filings, that dream became Velvera®—the world's first cordless heated cake stand.
Today, Velvera® helps families, hosts, hotels, and restaurants serve warm desserts and memorable moments with the touch of a button.
Because some traditions are worth keeping warm.

Cortrell Winkfield is the founder and inventor behind Velvera®. At 22 years old, he woke from a vivid dream with the image of a heated cake stand sitting on his grandmother Beverly’s dining table.
The idea came from something deeply familiar: family gatherings, hospitality and memories of Beverly’s Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. Cortrell began searching for a way to keep desserts warm without taking away from the beauty of the table.
When he could not find the product he envisioned, he began creating it.
The concept moved from sketches into prototypes, engineering, manufacturing, testing, refinement and intellectual-property protection. That journey became Velvera®.
FROM DREAM TO REALITY
Building something that had not existed before required patience, persistence and countless rounds of refinement.
At 22, Cortrell wakes from a vivid dream featuring a cake stand capable of keeping dessert warm while remaining beautifully displayed.
The idea moves into sketches, prototypes, engineering, product testing, manufacturing and design refinement.
As the product evolves, Cortrell works to protect the invention through an expanding portfolio of patent and design filings.
Velvera continues to grow from one original product into a larger vision for luxury heated serveware and modern hospitality.

In February 2026, Cortrell appeared on ABC’s Tamron Hall and shared the story behind Velvera® with a national audience.
The appearance introduced viewers to the invention, the family inspiration behind it and the journey of turning an unexpected dream into a real product.
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY • 2026
Founder and inventor Cortrell Winkfield met with Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg in 2026 and received a proclamation recognizing the journey and innovation behind Velvera®.
For a company whose story began in Louisville, recognition at home represents one of the most meaningful milestones in the journey.
